Where can I find my continuing education (CE) records?

Where can I find my continuing education (CE) records?

Your continuing education records may be available in different places depending on where you completed the education and what type of CE credit you earned.

AOA EyeLearn, the AOA CE credit-claiming hub powered by Credivera, COPE/OE Tracker, CE Broker and the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC) serve different purposes. Because of this, there is not one location that contains every CE record for every AOA member or certified paraoptometric.

Use the information below to determine where to look for your CE records.

AOA EyeLearn

AOA EyeLearn is AOA's online professional development and education platform.

If you completed a course through EyeLearn, sign in to EyeLearn to access your course information and available CE documentation. CE forms or transcripts from EyeLearn may be downloaded and saved for your records.

Important information for certified paraoptometrics

CE completed through EyeLearn is not automatically reported to the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC).

If you are renewing a CPO™, CPOA™, CPOT™ or CPOC™ certification, you are responsible for keeping your CE documentation and submitting the required documentation to CPC as part of the certification renewal process.

Optometry's Meeting® and the AOA CE credit-claiming hub

If you earned CE at Optometry's Meeting®, use AOA's CE credit-claiming hub, powered by Credivera, to claim and manage eligible CE credentials.

To receive credit for an Optometry's Meeting course, attendees must meet the attendance and credit-claiming requirements for that course.

Attendees must have their badges scanned upon arrival outside each course room. If an attendee does not scan their badge before entering the course, the credit will not be accepted.

Optometry's Meeting offers several types of education, including AOA CE Hours, CPC, CPD, COPE and CEE/TQ courses. Requirements may vary depending on the type of course.

If you need to retrieve Optometry's Meeting CE documentation, visit the AOA CE credit-claiming hub on AOA.org.

For assistance with Optometry's Meeting CE, email omeducation@aoa.org.

COPE and OE Tracker

COPE and OE Tracker are administered by the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO), not AOA.

COPE provides accreditation for optometric continuing education, while OE Tracker is used to track continuing education records for optometrists.

For eligible Optometry's Meeting CE, AOA reports credit to COPE when the attendee provided accurate required information, such as an OE Tracker number, during registration.

If eligible Optometry's Meeting CE is not appearing as expected, confirm that:

  • You provided the correct OE Tracker information during registration.
  • Your badge was scanned as required for the course.
  • You completed any other applicable requirements for receiving credit.

For questions about AOA's reporting of Optometry's Meeting CE, contact omeducation@aoa.org.

For questions about your overall OE Tracker record, contact ARBO/OE Tracker or the provider that offered the education.

CE Broker

CE Broker is a separate continuing education tracking service used by participating licensing boards and other regulatory organizations.

For eligible Optometry's Meeting CE, AOA reports credit to CE Broker when the attendee provided accurate required information, such as a state license number, during registration.

AOA does not report Optometry's Meeting CE directly to individual state licensing boards.

If eligible Optometry's Meeting CE is not appearing in CE Broker, confirm that the state license information you provided during registration was accurate and that you met the attendance and other applicable requirements for the course.

For questions about AOA's reporting of Optometry's Meeting CE, contact omeducation@aoa.org.

Questions about your CE Broker account or CE reported by another education provider should be directed to CE Broker or the organization that provided the education.

Paraoptometric CE and CPC certification

Continuing education used to maintain a CPO™, CPOA™, CPOT™ or CPOC™ certification is handled through the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC).

Unlike a CE tracking service, CPC does not maintain an ongoing record of all CE credits you have earned.

Certified paraoptometrics are responsible for keeping track of their CE and retaining the appropriate documentation.

This applies regardless of where the CE was earned, including EyeLearn.

When it is time to renew your certification, you must submit the required CE documentation to CPC as part of your renewal. CE documentation may include CE forms or transcripts downloaded from EyeLearn or Credivera, as applicable, or other acceptable documentation from the education provider.

A personal CE log can help you track your education, but a CE log by itself is not proof of completed education.

For questions about acceptable CE or CPC certification renewal requirements, contact cpc@aoa.org.

Can AOA provide my complete CE history?

Not in all cases.

AOA can assist with education records associated with applicable AOA programs and events, but AOA does not maintain a universal CE transcript containing every course you have completed from every education provider.

Where you should look depends on where and how you earned the credit:

What should I do if a CE record is missing?

First determine:

  1. Where did you take the course?
  2. What type of CE credit did you earn?
  3. Where did you expect the credit to appear?

For example, an EyeLearn course that does not appear in your CPC records is different from an eligible Optometry's Meeting COPE course that does not appear in OE Tracker.

Remember that EyeLearn CE is not automatically reported to CPC, and CPC does not maintain an ongoing total of the CE credits a certified paraoptometric has earned.

If you need assistance researching AOA-provided CE, have the following information available:

  • Your full name
  • Your AOA member ID, if applicable
  • Course title
  • Date of the course
  • Event or education provider
  • Type and number of CE hours expected
  • Where you expected the credit to appear
  • Your OE Tracker number or state license number, if applicable
  • Any CE form, transcript, certificate or other documentation you received
